It's that glorious time of year when we reunite with loved ones (we neglected all year), stuff our faces to excess, and pass out in front of the TV. Perhaps a recalibration of the thanksometer is in order. A spin-off of the popular GivesMeHope.com site, this community invites you to document moments of kindness, generosity, and pure human love.

Despite its mainstream appeal, Thanksgiving is not for everyone. There are those struggling with food disorders, for whom this day causes endless conflict. There are the cash-challenged, who can't afford the gluttony we've grown to expect. There are the lonely, who don't have loved ones nearby. And let's not forget the vegetarians, who decry the animal cruelty. But there's one more group we often overlook: the terminally lazy! This community of lazy vegetarians offers easy recipes for an animal-friendly feast.

Had a 7 hr nap from 4-11. Damn tired after babysitting since Friday. Those two kids are just too hard to handle, especially since they're so freaking hyper. I like my other two neices, at least they're quieter. But I'm not going to talk about them

A COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS GOT TICKETS TO WINTER OLYMPICS!!! I am freaking jealous that they have money for that but whatever, I haven't seen any of them since March so at least I'll be looking at this positively.

What's great about the Winter Olympic year is that 4 months later is the FIFA World Cup (btw, Spain is going to win). I totally approve this song as being the Official FIFA World Cup song... Even though FIFA's not admitting it you can so tell they will. BEAT THAT BRENDON URIE AND CLAN FOR MAKING UP YOUR OWN SONG!!! Sorry [info]lavintage no hate for them really.

Time to rate Pacquiao among all-time greats

LAS VEGAS – Bob Arum is 78 years old, but as Saturday night became Sunday morning and the famous Strip geared up for another dose of party time, boxing’s omnipresent promoter was as hyperbolic as ever.
Arum loves this brutal yet entrancing game, loves the spin and the hype and the eternal battle of verbal chicanery needed to sell the virtues of fights and fighters.

But as the Top Rank chief cranked into high gear to extol the merits of his shining light, Manny Pacquiao, for once his spiel was met with nods of agreement from even the sagest of boxing experts.

Pacquiao’s 12th-round TKO of Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand Garden Arena was mightily impressive on paper but even more so in actuality, a punishing and blistering assault that was electrifying to witness.

That’s why Arum found plenty of takers when he floated the theory that his boxer is the greatest of this era, even without the clarifying factor of a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr., which boxing prays will take place in 2010.

It’s been a while since current fighters were talked about in historical terms, but that’s the level to which Pacquiao is taking his performances, a reality to which Cotto’s mangled face bore testament.

“I think he is the greatest fighter I have seen,” said Arum. “Certainly the greatest of this era. There was a time in this country when boxing was mainstream, it really mattered, and Manny is helping to bring that back.”

The fight game is still a long way removed from the days of big contests on network television and a cemented place in the public consciousness, but Pacquiao’s abilities certainly bridge generational gaps.

Boxing historian Bert Sugar, author of “Boxing’s Greatest Fighters,” believes the Filipino sensation is now among the top 20 fighters who have ever lived.

“This performance puts him up there,” Sugar said. “The key with Pacquiao is the way he has retained his power while he climbs up the weights.

“A lot of people thought that Cotto’s own punching power – a natural welterweight – would be too much for him. Instead, Pacquiao put himself in Cotto’s wheelhouse and took his shots.”

Pacquiao has now won officially sanctioned belts in five divisions and has been regarded as a champion in seven, a remarkable feat that has confounded the critics at virtually every step.

The welterweight limit of 147 pounds is as high as he will go, but there is still more he can do to cement his legacy, starting with a showdown with Mayweather.

“Don’t be afraid to put this guy up there with the greats,” said trainer Freddie Roach. “What he is doing just doesn’t happen these days and boxing is lucky to have him.

“It might even be that it won’t be until after his career that Manny is truly appreciated. People know what he is doing, moving up the weights with so much success, but we won’t see it happen again. Only then will people truly appreciate it.”

One of the more popular comparisons emerging is Pacquiao and Henry Armstrong, the legendary fighter of the 1930s and 1940s. Armstrong fought across six divisions and maintained his ferocious power at every level.

Such likenesses are mired in conjecture – Armstrong fought more than 150 times, often taking the ring up to 15 times per year. Compared to Armstrong, current evaluations of Pacquiao are based on limited information.

“It is not for me to say where I am in the history of boxing,” said Pacquiao. “I just try to win my fights and represent my country. I don’t think too much about these things.”

Well, that won’t stop the rest of the boxing world from thinking about it. The topic of Pacman’s spot in history will keep the sport’s fans chattering away.

Manny, you are representing your country well. You make us all proud to be a Filipino, proud that we have such a superstar from our own backyard. When I found out you won I was just so happy. 7 Titles... Eek, so happy.

The part about how Manny Pacquiao is bringing back boxing is so true. I remember in gr. 8 no one at my school would watch his matches except Filipinos... With his last match, I have never seen so many people talk about the Pacquiao match vs. Hatton. Which actually made me happy. Look at me, talking about my happiness...

Btw, Great weekend in the world of sports. Giants won, Canucks won, Pacquiao won, BC Lions won... Way to make my horrible week better. :D

Now for a nap, woke up at 6 in the morningtoday... jfc, babysitting kids is so hard.

New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts
8:30pm EST

Tonight's game has been hyped up all week. Need I really write anything? heh

Its going to be another classic game against the Colts. The team is undefeated. Roles are kind of switched from 2007.

Tom Brady and Payton Manning are linked forever and their head to head matchup is lining up to be something to watch. Tom will need a flawless game. If given enough protection, he should be able to pick apart the rookie Colts' corners. The key is his protection. Volmer and Light will play a huge part. Volmer has been great filling in for Light. I don't know how much Light will play but I think he will.

Maroney will have to keep the Colts defense honest. Running the ball would neutralize Freeney and Mathis coming in from the edges.

Screen passes and short passes to Welker will probably be the bulk of the offense, I think the Colts will double cover Moss for most of the game.

On the other side, Manning will probably have a good game as well. He could have a pass happy game if the Pats corners are not playing well. Stopping Dallas Clark will be the key. McGowen may be chosen to cover him

Brown and Addai will be dangerous with their running game. Pass action plays could kill the Pats. Vince has to be ready.

Manning will certainly test how well this Pats defense has developed this season.

And finally special teams on both sides could be the deciding factor. Starting field position will be a key.

Its going to be a close game no matter how well either offense plays. Tthe Pats will sneak one out since they have been improving each week. The Colts have been barely squeaking by their opponents. I think the Pats will win by a field goal or less.

Go Pats!!!

I'll post another entry later tonight with updates.

Ok. While I'm away from home babysitting three kids I shall talk about my day.

I TOTALLY DID NOT NOTICE THAT IT WAS FRIDAY THE 13TH TODAY UNTIL I GOT HOME!!! Does that mean that bad luck still won't happen to me? Just kidding. I don't believe in those kinds of things. But it's amusing to watch other people get really paranoid over it. Although black cats do creep me out a bit. My cousin used to have a black cat named Magic. One time I was walking in the dark and I saw these two green/white dots coming at me. It was Magic, and he starts scratching me. Then again I never did get that friendly welcome by a cat.

History class was just oh so hilarious. Teacher was just annoyed at the fact that we had to continue with FDR and the Great Depression... So he had a short 5 minute lecture about it and moved on to India. Here's where the funny part comes in. All of a sudden we started to talk about abortion, those who were pro-life and pro-choice, and how those who were pro-choice could never agree on an answer. Which I thought was true. For example, whenever my teacher has this discussion with others (since he's pro-life) he always asks them "What is the unborn?" and they all had different answers. But anyways, people in my class were debating on it. Even had some fascist ideas thrown in there (I don't even know why). We've even gotten to a discussion about a person having a soul... We kinda rambled on this a little longer than we should have. But amusing nonetheless. I'm glad that I switched into History and dropped Physics. I'd have so much more fun than looking at all the different formulas.

Speaking of Physics. I pity those who take that course. I see them stress out so much when it comes to testing time. They all wish that there were notes. But the fact that they were all examples made everybody confused especially since each example had a different formula. So yeah, thank goodness I dropped that course.

Anyways, about my marks. All is well I guess. Good enough to not get me grounded. Thank goodness because my mom has been threatening me last week that she will take away my TV/won't let me go to any Canucks or Giants games for a while. Huge sigh of relief because i was also planning on buying tickets to go see a Giants/Rockets game. SHOOT! I just realized I forgot to give Diana a sign to hold up at an autographing session to tell Connauton that I couldn't be there. Haha, I'm such a creeper.

Speaking of Giants. Bus driver and I were talking about them. Only because he was listening to their game while driving... I seriously love bus drivers who are hockey fans. That just added the cherry on top to make my day better. Let's just hope that the Canucks can win us a game tomorrow.

OMG did the Lake Erie Monsters suck tonight. Completely flat. They made more passes to the opposing team than they did to teammates. The defense was non-existent. The only thing offensive was how they played. They lost 6-0 only because Houston was sucking almost as bad (I kid you not).

And once again, someone thought they should do the National Anthem on guitar. I guess that was the sign of things to come for the night.

Report Card update...

HUZZAH!! Average was a bit better than what I expected. But it kind of makes me feel like I don't deserve it whatsoever. History and Calculus is what made my average look better. But there are three subjects that I definitely need to work on. English, Calculus and Chemistry.

Uh oh mom came home.. I think I'll show her my grad proofs first then my marks xD

(Or anybody, really) Victoria's Secret is having a What's Sexy poll over at their website and Patrick Sharp has been nominated for Sexiest Athlete and the Blackhawks have been nominated for Sexiest Sports Team. Both are #1 in their category at the moment, but by voting you get an offer for a free pair of panties [when you buy a bra...]. Just thought you might like to know 'cause, hey, who doesn't love free panties?

Thank goodness tomorrow's Friday. But at the same time I'm not looking forward to it. I've decided that this weekend will be the weekend I will catch up/go ahead with everything/work on that pro-life scholarship/study for my AP Calc quiz on Monday (yeah the one that got postponed). But it just so happens that I had to pick the perfect weekend to work on all that. In reality I don't, I'm actually babysitting tomorrow night into Saturday night/Sunday morning until my nieces' parents come back from their trip. Taking over from my aunt who babysat all week.

This week has been kind of frustrating and to tell you the truth it feels like that day off from school didn't really help whatsoever. Felt like all that Biology studying went to waste after writing the test today. It went well until the last two pages really. Second last page was ok, lost about 2-3 marks. But the last page was dreadful. The whole page was dedicated to the lesson that I had missed while I was sick. A WHOLE PAGE worth about 5-6 marks. It made me so mad, so I kind of did it with no self-reassurance whatsoever. No clue what in the world the question was asking. Turns out it was about proteins and an in class demo that he showed the class. Yeah, not cool. I was so prepped for that test too.

Tomorrow on the other hand is a completely different story. Listening Quiz in English (we have to analyze a speech), Chem Test (hurray for equilibriums), and a History quiz (terms, but I'm just going to do it from what I really know). On top of that, it's the dreadful day in the life of Bianca Rojo. It's report card day. So far, I am hating my English, Chemistry, History, and Biology mark right now. Oh would you look at that it's more than half of my classes. History isn't actually that bad considering I joined the class halfway through the first unit. Then my academic counselor told me today that my marks weren't that bad. Good to know that I have a shoulder to fall on... Not.

Can I just say that I cannot wait to for the Christmas break? I would greatly appreciate having it right about now.

By the way, University of Toronto's application is really confusing.. If anyone's ever applied there would you mind explaining it to me... What's with the Colleges? It's confusing me right now. I went through the viewbook earlier today and I was just as lost as a gopher would be in a tree. All I know is that to get into say Nursing in UT you need at least some university credits.. Does that mean UT or the colleges? I'm just lost because of how most of the book was on the programs offered at certain colleges and then very little info on Nursing.

Now I really need to study for my Chemistry Test tomorrow. Somewhat nervous about it. Crosses fingers that it will go well.
